Jade's Keynote PresentationJade and Sienna co-founded #notsilentbecause to end the stigma felt by sexual assault survivors and make Boise State a safer place for all students, faculty, and staff. Through sharing stories and creating allies, #notsilentbecause encourages survivors to define themselves through the power of their voice rather than the actions of the past. By reclaiming their voice, assault survivors reclaim their lives by relearning acceptance, forgiveness, love, worth, value, and respect.
#notsilentbecause began as a student-led program to educate the Boise State community about sexual assault and the importance of consent, and has since sparked a campus-wide movement. Now, #notsilentbecause is in the process of becoming an institutionalized part of the university. Sienna and Jade are grateful to have the opportunity to extend their outreach through The Ethos Project. |
Jade Donnelly is a senior graduating in May with a B.S. in Social Sciences and a B.A. in Communication with minors in Sociology and Gender Studies. Jade was born in small town Pendleton, Oregon and raised in Walla Walla, Washington. She has served as the Vice President to the Associated Students of Boise State University (ASBSU) and is a passionate activist for many movements and organizations. She found her passion for gender-based violence as a sophomore in a Feminist Theory class and later through the addition of gender studies courses, articles and documentaries like The Hunting Ground. Today, Jade is a proud feminist with a sincere commitment to ending gender-based violence. She plans to dedicate her life to this commitment because she feels strongly that no human being should ever feel unsafe, underappreciated, fearful or ostracised based on their identities. She plans to further this goal by attending graduate school to further her research and later, becoming an educator for college-aged youth.
